One Breath, One Body

One Breath, One Body

SAABA / Minus 16 A performance by the Staatsballett Berlin
takes place at the Deutsche Oper. Choreografie Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal.

*Minus 16* didn’t unfold step by step — it happened all at once, like an inhale that never fully turns into an exhale. Every next movement felt unexpected, almost like it was about to break the rhythm, and yet somehow it kept building one whole, one continuous body of motion. Nothing was random, even when it looked wild. It felt like dance in one breath.

Little by little, the performance dissolved the distance between the stage and the seat. At some point, you realize you’re moving too. Not physically, but internally. You start to lose the sense of where you are, and for a moment, that feels incredibly natural. You stop trying to predict what comes next and allow yourself to be carried by it.

What makes *Minus 16* special is that it’s honest. Sometimes raw, sometimes playful, sometimes strangely tender. It reminds you that the body can be funny, awkward, powerful, and poetic — all at the same time.

When it ends, it doesn’t really end. The movement lingers on.

And if you let go just enough, you’ll find yourself inside the dance — breathing it, moving with it, even after the music stops.

So if you’re reading this article now, maybe it’s your sign to experience it yourself. Here’s where you can check the upcoming performances: Deutsche Oper Berlin
